Sand Beach (Bearberry)
Monotype print in blue ink on rag paper, 11.75 x 10 inches (29.85 x 25.40 cm)
This print was inspired by a patch of bearberry that grows in a big stripe like a garland from a crack in the granite ledge at Sand Beach in Stonington, Maine. This tough evergreen shrub has shiny green leaves that turn burgundy in fall and red berries that last through the winter. From certain angles, this massive rock appears to be wearing a feather boa.
