Barred Island Trail

Monotype print in blue ink depicting a hiking trail through the Maine woods

Monotype print in blue ink on rag paper, 11.75 x 10 inches (29.85 x 25.40 cm)

This print was inspired by many hikes through the Barred Island Preserve on Stinson Point in Deer Isle, Maine. The trail is 1.5 miles in length through the woods to Goose Cove, where at low tide one can cross a sandbar to Barred Island. Most of the trail requires stepping over roots or climbing up and down mossy rock ledges, but at the end near the cove is an elevated wooden path of split logs that zig-zags through the trees.
