One of my favorite locations on Deer Isle, Maine, is Sand Beach Preserve in West Stonington. The preserve features a wide sandy beach (a rarity in Maine, where stony strands are the norm), a fog forest, and a more secluded sandy beach with rocky outcroppings opposite Weir Island. This print depicts a view of one of the granite ledges on that second beach, which is topped by an assortment of shrubs and stunted spruce trees shaped by the wind.
